Sketchbooks have been artist companions for hundreds of years. Today, they are also known as visual journals or visual diaries. Although, they may serve different purposes, the practice of looking and imagining through sketching is key to painting.

In these pages, you find your artistic logic, you experiment and play with ideas, try new drawing and painting techniques, move on, and sometimes simply meditate for a heightened sense of awareness. We will look at some of my sketchbooks over the last decade, as well as peak into the journals of prominent painters who regard sketching as central to their creative practice.
