Challenges and Artists Books.

with Marion  Bösen, Patricia Lambertus and Jo Voysey

Marion Bösen and Patricia Lambertus assigned so-called daily challenges.  The daily challenge is a great way to start the dialogue and exchange amongst all the participating students as they reflect and share their different experiences and various perspectives on a specific topic. The students were encouraged to work in collage, painting, drawing and photography. These two days were facilitated by Marion and Patricia on the Bremen side and by Jo on the Durban side.

On the third day the students delve deeper into their artists’ books. Jo Voysey facilitated a workshop where the artists/participants assigned a certain number of pages that need to be filled, used, adapted in some way. Continuing from the work done in the above challenges the participants transformed these books from "visual diaries" into artworks. A number of challenges were assigned along the way to encourage drastic forms of modification to the original item/notebook.
